Jack Mahoney, M.D.

The John J. Mahoney M.D. Award for Community Health Value Innovation showcases 5 communities that are creating value.

“This award is about CHVI sharing its collective expertise and real-world business experiences to foster community programs that show promise and real innovation in the face of significant challenges to community health,” says Dr. Mahoney. “This is just one way that we can expand our scope of influence at this critical turning point in our nation’s health care history.”

All of the applicants to the Award requests for proposals have a unique approach to the market.  Some are building on previous work, but adding a flavor and measurement that’s all their own.  Others have identified gaps in care or data that, if inserted, could guide the way to better care and, hopefully, better outcomes.  Still others have seen the opportunity to link arms across geographic boundaries, sharing data and decisions that can improve engagement, accountable care, and improved business performance.  Check here often, feel free to read the updates from each of the awardees as they begin to shape the future.

It’s important to remember that the award that we gave out to these 5 communities in Jack’s name was not for the job well-done in the past.  It’s for the vision that they see to roll their ideas and evidence to other communities–that’s Jack’s vision, and we’ll be there to help them.
